Kingdoms of Kalamar: The Death of Kings
Sir Harkene Zem'Par
Formerly, a respected officer in the Kalamaran military apparatus for several decades. Moving from one division to another (a common practice for someone with such a rare gift, but even more necessary for one with both arcane talent and breeding), he developed a reputation as a man who appreciated good wine and failed to appreciate the “steel and wood” theory of warfare so many of his peers swore by.
Despite a hedonistic lifestyle, his grasp of the martial applications of spells and spellcraft earned him the necessary respect of his fellow officers and the absolute fear and awe of the rank and file. Had he not been called to service elsewhere in the empire, it is likely he’d have been on a short list of names to lead the major offensive to the Fhokki lands rumored to be brewing this year.
Emperor Kabori elevated him from his position in the Kalamaran infantry to a position suitable his talents and blood as the chief advisor to the governor of the Protectorate of Karasta. The dwarvish king who, nominally, rules the land has found a capable and serious arcane officer of the Emperor’s Own difficult to manipulate and dangerous to cross.
